ABOUT
the Ancora series
A mysterious black rock. A secret tunnel. A decision that will change their lives forever.
Kat, Lulabelle, and Rosie Harper never intended to have a full-blown adventure. But when they discover a cave in the woods outside their summer cabin, they know that true adventurers have no choice but to set off into the darkness and see what they can find. Snakes? Uninspired. Spiders? Easily squashed. Flesh-eating mushrooms? Now you're talking! Little do the Harpers know that the magical world waiting for them at the end of the tunnel will lead to an adventure unlike anything they've ever known. For Kat, Lulabelle, and Rosie, the discovery of Ancora will send them on an epic quest to uncover long forgotten treasures and restore a lost kingdom, but it will also pit them against a ruthless enemy who will stop at nothing to get what he wants.
Get ready for a magical new series with a cast of eccentric characters and three unforgettable heroines!
BOOK 1:
The Fog Banshee’s Curse
now available
Kat Harper has not had a real adventure since she jumped off the roof of her house on her tenth birthday. But when Kat and her sisters, Lulabelle and Rosie, stumble into a magical land called Ancora, all kinds of adventures await them.
Kat is thrilled (they might see a dragon!), Lulabelle is horrified (they might see a dragon!) and Rosie just wants to make a friend (dragon or otherwise). The Harpers quickly learn, though, that this new world holds many dangers. A demon monster, the Fog Banshee, is terrorizing one of Ancora’s eight provinces, while a dark sorcerer known as a Spellbinder watches from the shadows. What’s more, Kat and her sisters may be the only ones who can stop them.
With the help of two friends—a possible chicken thief and a former chicken owner—and no magical powers to speak of, the Harpers must rely on wits, determination, and a great deal of rule breaking to unmask the Spellbinder and free the province from the Fog Banshee’s lethal clutches. But who can they trust? And who is the traitor in their midst?
(there’s also a nasty lady with a peacock, but unfortunately nothing bad happens to her)

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Miriam Pittman
Miriam Pittman has always loved escaping into a good book, ever since she stepped through the wardrobe with Lucy as a child. Her writing career began at the age of eight when she wrote a story called Gumdrop Fever about a girl who eats too many gumdrops (not to be confused with the classic novel, Chocolate Fever, by Robert Kimmel Smith, which her story blatantly plagiarized). Her mom loved it. This was followed by stories about pioneers, kidnapped grandmothers, and aliens. Her mom loved those, too.
She graduated from Vanderbilt University, where she majored in English, primarily so she could keep reading books and receive college credit for doing so. After college, Miriam made a laughably misguided decision to attend law school at the University of Mississippi. She quickly realized that she did not enjoy arguing in a courtroom or writing legal briefs, although she did make some good friends, all of whom are much better lawyers than she would’ve been. Miriam also met her husband, who’s pretty much the coolest man in the world, so it all worked out for the best.
She now lives in Tennessee with her husband (the coolest man in the world), three daughters and two stray cats that refuse to leave. She enjoys chocolate, hot tea, bonfires, and any excuse to avoid laundry. Ancora: The Fog Banshee’s Curse is her first novel (and her mom still loves it).
